Is this a misprint on page 276 of my Everyman's Library edition of PF?
" ... as snug as my gemmed scepter, ruby necklace, and diamond-studded crown in - - no matter, where."
For other editions this appears in the 7th paragraph of Kinbote's comment to line 949

p.s. Thank you to the kind soul who found the Daniel Home reference for me in Speak Memory, and again to Prof. Karpukhin in whose article on Herzen I discovered that the source of my memory that Herzen was a favorite of VDN was a caption in that same book!
