Dear Barry Warren,

On the off chance that I might be included amongst the tortured and I
suppose torturing interpreters to whom you refer, I'll offer a mini
response: the publishing phase ofPF as brilliantly decoded by Mary
Bellino (thank you, Mary, I'd never manage to work that all out) doesn't
affect the possible duality of Shade and Kinbote - - as she pointed
out.

It would be interesting to see Mary's knowledge of publishing applied
to Ada, in which the oddly named Ronald Oranger - - one of the few
characters to survive the book's fictional publication - - seems to play
an important (though mystifying to me) role - - another bow-tied
character, by the way.
