Subject
Nabokov's portrait (appearance in Messud's The Emperor's Children)

DN's recent post prompts me to mention that Claire Messud's novel The
Emperor's Children -- the book waiting on my bedside table at the moment
-- features a man who is described, when he first appears, as having "a
high, smooth Nabokovian brow" (p. 5), and later, again, as having a
"pale, oval, Nabokovian" face (p. 156). So far he's one of the most
interesting characters in the book.
