> yes the Library of Congress Subject Headings for Nabokov are things like:
> Authors, Russian--20th century--
> Russian literature--20th century--History and criticism
> Authors, American--20th century--Correspondence.
> Not being a cataloger, I don't know the technicalities of how VN is catalogued

I *am* a cataloguer, even if not much into Library of Congress policies in assigning subject headings.
What I can say is that the correct classification of Nabokov & Nabokoviana by Dewey Decimal Classification is:

Korol’, dama, valet - 891.73 (Russian novel)

King, queen, knave - 891.73 (novel, originally Russian, even when in translation)

Pnin - 813.54 (American novel)

Vladimir Nabokov : the Russian years - 813.54 (American novel, as language and literary form with which the author is chiefly identified)

Dear Bunny, Dear Volodya : the Nabokov-Wilson letters, 1940-1971 - 813.54 (ditto).
