For what it's worth, I came across this trivium on America On-Line.

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Richard Zanuck has said no to ``Lolita,''
stepping down as producer of the film two weeks before the start date because
of scheduling conflicts.
Joel Michaels, producer on ``Stargate'' and ``Universal Soldier'' will
take up producing chores on the film, based on the novel by Vladimir Nabokov.
The film stars Jeremy Irons, Melanie Griffith and Dominique Swain in the
title role.
Zanuck said his other commitments made it impossible for him to be on
location with the film, which shoots in Wilmington, N.C., and locations
throughout the South for four months beginning Aug. 21.
