NABOKOVIANS:
Galya Diment, who sends the folllowing information, will be
chairing one of the two Nabokov Sessions at MLA in Toronto. Her session, A78A,
"Nabokov and Religion?" will take place on Thursday, 30 Dec. 1993 at
3:30-4:45 in the New York Room, Sheraton Centre of Toronto. The program is
arranged by the Vladimir Nabokov Society. The papers are as follows:
1. "Semantic Hierarchies of Nabokov's God"...Christine Rydel, Grand

2. "The Venerable Language of Rigid Religion in Nabokov's Humbert's
(sic--DBJ) LOLITA...John Noble, California Baptist College
3. "Nabokov as God--God as Nabokov: The Artist as Impersonator of an

Asheville
4. "Speak, Memory--Performing the Patterner"...Robbi Nester, U. of
California, Irvine


A second session sponsored by the Nabokov Society will be chaired by John
Burt Foster, whose book, NABOKOV'S ART OF MEMORY AND EUROPEAN MODERNISM,
has just been published by Princeton U.P. Details on his MLA session will
