What did Nabokov have against book clubs? Is NABOKOV-L a book club?

EDITOR's NOTE. VN did make some comments about book clubs and reading
groups. I imagine the basis for his remarks was that both
sometimes represent the LCD. On the other hand, he was quite happy to see
his books chosen by the clubs. And "no," NABOKOV-L is not a book club. It
is not even NABOKV-L -- but NABOKV-L.
