EDITOR's NOTE. See Matthew Morris' note re his dissertation. And "yes" the
PF epigraph re Hoobs, Johnson's cat iis in the Life of Johnson
It sounds more than reasonable. _Pale Fire_'s motto is, after all, a
quotation of Boswell's _Life of Johnson_ (speaking of which, I'm three
quarters done with _LJ_ and haven't found the quote about the cat---did I
miss it already or is it further on ahead?).
