Today's issue has a very brief mention of VN. In a review of Ingo
Schulze's 33 MOMENTS OF HAPPINESS: ST. PETERSBURG STORIES, James McManus
writes: "Ingo Schulze is a German philologist, dramaturge and journalist
who worked as an editor in St. Petersburg for only six months, so he knows
the city as a reporter rather than as a regular denizen. Not surprisingly,
his writing is more reminiscent of Peter Handke on deadline (or
psilocybin) or Henrich Boll's novel 'The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum'
than of any of the Russians (Gogol, Pasternak, Chekhov, Nabokov) his
publisher contends he is 'honoring'."
