Though Nabokov detested Freud, I think it is important to recognize the
essential place Sigy Mondieu-Mondieu occupies in Nabokov's novels,
particularly LOLITA and ADA.

Reading these books without a knowledge of Freud can be a splendid
experience, of course. But both are even funnier if you have, say,
INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS by your side... perhaps ironically, any good
class on Nabokov should include a reading of Freud.
