I am sorry I did not refer to Dmitri Nabokov's most important
conversation with his father in my *Nabokovian* note. What I I meant,
though, were VN's direct acknowledgments of indebtedness in print rather
than the evidence of him having known works and ideas of the philosophers
mentioned. In the 1930's Khodasevich allegedly remarked about VN: "I doubt
that there's anything he has not read." The longer I study VN, the more
convinced I get that, in fact, Khodasevich did not exaggerate.

EDITOR'S NOTE: For those interested in pursuing the Schopenhauer/VN tie, I
have a hazy recollection that Leona Toker makes reference to S in her VN
book.

OR THOSE INTERESTED INPURSUING THE sCHOPENHAUER/vn
CONNECTION, i HAVE A HAZY RECOLLECTION THAT lEONA tOKER MAKES REFERENCE TO
s. INHER vn BOOK
