I have been lurking for a while and this is my first message to the
list.
I have just finished reading _Lolita_ and was astounded by this work
and the depth of VN. I have become quite interested in learning more
about the author (thus my presence on the list) and have gathered a
few interviews and the Wisconsin Studies volume devoted to VN but
have not delved into it yet.

My question pertains to literary works referenced in _Lolita_. Has
anyone
compiled a bibliography of the works that he referenced in this novel?
Many are obvious like Carroll, Poe, and Joyce, but I would think the
majority of them were a little more obscure. Suggestions?

EDITOR's NOTE. Alfred Appel's ANNOTATED LOLITA identifies almost all of
the books mentioned. Some of them have been the subject of more detailed
examination vis-avis LO. Suggestions, anyone
