Query: Noteboom & Transparent Things

I am reading Cees Noteboom's "The Following Story", which was
suggested by a VN fan and which has as its Part Two motto the last
paragraph of "Transparent Things". From it:

"'We will feel the draft blowing through the cracks in the structure of
causality,' someone once said. Well, that morning it was very drafty
indeed around me..."

Very drafty for me, too. The quote sounds Nabokovian, but I'm not sure
if it's the powers of suggestion or the vagaries of causality. Does it
sound familiar? Is it VN?

Cheers,

Juan
