Nabokov and Joyce: Novel structure (fwd)

Although VN admired Joyce, he did object to JJ's too stron emphasis
on sex. We know from _Ada_ that VN did not like dwelling on such
matters, especially alluding to their physiological aspects. He also
didn't care so much for _Finnegans Wake_

_Finnegans Wake_, we recall, consists of one long section divided into
chapters, two medium sections divided into fewer chapters than the
first section, followed by a section consisting of a single longish
chapter.

_Ada_, on the other hand, consists of one long section divided into
chapters, two medium sections divided into fewer chapters than the
first section, followed by a section consisting of a single longish
chapter.

However this longish chapter in _Ada_ is in turn followed by still
another short section of six quite short (staccato) chapters
