As far as I know, VN does not use the word "tarand". It strikes me as a
typical Lubin trouvaille: cf. his memorable "Kickshaws & Motley" in which
he lists rare words used by VN; all the words he cites are to be found in
VN's writings with the intriguing exception of ARVAL (meaning "funerary
meal" according to Webster) which I have been unable to track down all
these years.

Any possible inaccuracy in the above is due to the fact that I am relying
on my memory.
