Does anyone know if Isabelle Nabokov, an anthropologist from Princeton,
has a family connection to VN? Given her interest in the dynamics
and rituals of marital relationships in different cultures (she recently

of a South Indian Exorcism," about the practice of making young Tamil
wives go through trance-inducing rites forcing them to confess to illicit
