In 1979 Harper & Row published the then-known correspondence of VN and
Edmund Wilson. In spite of Simon Karlinsky's superb annotations and
editing, the volume left much to be desired. Since 1980, an additional
59 letters have been discovered and much more is known about the
circumstances attending individual items in the correspondence.
Professor Karlinsky has incorporated the new letters and expanded his
commentaries in a new "revised and expanded edition." While
retaining the original name as subtitle, new version has been retitled
DEAR BUNNY, DEAR VOLODYA, echoing the title of playwright Terry Quinn's
stage version of the correspondence with Dmitri Nabokov playing the role
of his father.

The handsome University of California Press volume (ISBN 0-520-22080-3)
supersedes all earlier versions of the correspondence and is an
essential book not only for Nabokov admirers but for any student of
contemporary literature.
