" a nabokov meetup" TO BE AVOIDED!

EDNOTE. NABOKV-L ran an item proposing that various potential local interest groups get together to share their interests -- Nabokov among them. Judging by Jansy de Mello's experience, this program is simply to develop commercial contacts and should be avoided. We thank Jansy for her information. See her comment at the end.

Dear Don,
after you posted a notice about "Nabokov meetup programs" I decided to try one and write about it to you. Greetings from Meetup.com.
This has been one of their answers:
We're sorry. You contacted an email address that does not accept incoming messages. But that's OK -- this automated response will direct you to the right place to answer your question or help you contact the Meetup Support team if you need further assistance.

These are our 5 most common questions:

1. How do I join Meetup?
2. How can I find information on where and when my Meetup is happening, and other event details?
3. How do I get Meetup started in my city or town, or local neighborhood?
4. How do I get Meetup started in my country or city outside of the United States?
5. What is a Meetup? I want to learn more about what happens at these things.

For answers to these questions and more, including help in managing your Meetup account, please visit:

In case you're unable to find an answer to your question, that link above also lets you send a message to the Meetup Support Team. We answer most questions within 24 hours.

Thanks for using Meetup!

Nothing has worked out, they send empty invitations all the time and I still haven´t managed to unsubscribe.
So, I´ll advise any one who want to try to be a very good in browser in the internet, or else they might end up like me, flooded by undesirable mail. I may have not been able to find the correct place to unsubscribe, but it seems to be hidden behind lots of useless and apparently enticing programs...
best,
Jansy
