Speaking of Mme Viardot's sexual tastes, Boborykin mentions the name Anton: ведь были, всегда есть и будут и мужчины и женщины, которые, как гоголевский городничий, именинники и именинницы "и на Антона и на Онуфрия" (there have been, there are and will always be men and women who, like Gogol's governor of town, celebrate their name-days "on St. Anton Day and St. Onufriy Day"*)
