Another related work is Brian Boyd's chapter on Pale Fire in his American Years (PP. 425-456).

Alexandra brought back the
entire tripartite issue, Kunin theories, Jekyll&Hyde
correlates. She adds her own hypothesis that the poem is "a kind of
suicide note."

I can only suggest that she begins by reading
Matt Roth and Tiffany De Rewsall's paper  NOJ / НОЖ:
Nabokov Online Journal, Vol. III /
2009 -
Tiffany DeRewal, Matthew Roth JOHN SHADE’S DUPLICATE SELVES:AN ALTERNATIVE SHADEAN THEORY
OF PALE FIRE and Brian
Boyd's "PF, The Magic of Artistic Discovery"
She can also search for specific
themes using the google-search for the Nab-L archives.

Assunto: [NABOKV-L] Suicide in Pale
Fire

Hello,

I'm interested in exploring the theory that Pale Fire, the
poem, is a kind of suicide note and that
Shade, Grey and Kinbote are one
in the same. I see  John Shade as the main personality and that he

created the other two: Grey to 'kill' him and Kinbote to finish his work.

Does anyone know whether there has been any similar theories published
or have any thoughts
themselves?

Thank
you,

Alexandra
