Abstract
Proposes that the title Bend Sinister may have a personal--and Shakespearean--association for Nabokov. The heraldic bend in the Shakespeare crest was on the cover and inside on the paste-down front endpaper of the 16mo Temple editions of Shakespeare in his father's library. Bend Sinister places more weight on Shakespeare than any other Nabokov novel.
