I am trying to locate a VN quote about the "meaning" of the color green.
My hazy recollection of the context is that VN was ridiculing the
"standard" trite association of green" with spring, freshness, rebirth,
resurrection, etc. Possibly by college students. He then remarks that,
for him, green is linked with death. I think that I also recall that
"gangrene" is supposedly the most euphonious word in English, but this may
well be from another writer. I'm not too sure of any of this.
