EDITOR'S PLAINT.
The existence of NABOKV-L depends upon the willingness of its
subscribers (nearly 400 of them), to submit items of interest. The
greater number of submissions, however, are from a small handful of
people. My thanks to those of you who do so. The fact remains, however,
that many published references to Nabokov go unreported on NABOKV-L.
Since your membership on this list presumably indicates an interest in
Nabokov and since you benefit from the efforts of those who do submit
items, it would not be amiss if a much larger number of our subscribers
would report items of interest to the list. An example item follows:
--------------------------------------------------------
The Nov. 1996 issue of VOGUE offers a longish article "LOLITA in
Hollywood" by Tad Friend, pp. 294-97 & 344. Centered on the forthcoming
Lyne-Schiff film, it contains much amusing trivia, e.g. popular Japanese
comic books celebrating little girls are called 'LOLI-MANGA'.
