1) Nabokov has mentioned that the LOLITA class list at
Ramsdale High is "among the nerves of the novel." Gavriel Shapiro
provides detailed annotations on each name in an article appearing in
_Cahiers du Monde russe_, XXXVII (3), juillet-septembre 1996, pp. 317-336.
2) Professor Shapiro also reports as forthcoming in _Russian Literature_
in 1997 his "Nabokov's Allusions: Dividedness and Polysemy." This is an
intriguing study of "split" allusions in which the two parts appear in
different parts of the text.
