Dear Nabokovians,

While annotating LD for La Pléiade, there are a few points which I haven't
manage to elucidate. Can anyone help me?

- chapter 6, last word: Nonnenmacher, as the author of a History of Art.
This character does not exist in real life. Never wrote anything of the
kind. But does his name evoke anything to you, apart from the translation
from the German?

- chapter 16, Sonia Hirsch's question about "Cumming", a poet, apparently,
and his collection Gallows and Factories???. Could be a mixture of e.e.
cummings (and his Tulips and Chimneys, 1923???) and VN's professor of Art in
Speak Memory.
Jeff Edmunds already tried to help me, found an American painter but the
dates do not correspond.
Any other idea?

- chapter 19 (p. 107 Penguin, 165 Vintage): "This White Raven exhibition": I
cannot decipher the message if any (except oxymoron, perhaps).

Thank you very much to all

Christine Raguet-Bouvart
