The current issue of SLAVIC AND EAST EUROPEAN JOURNAL (Vol 41, No 2, Summer
1997) has a Nabokov item and at least one Nabokov mention. There is a
laudatory review, by Clarence Brown, of ZEMBLA; and in Zenon Feszczak's
review of two new editions of Gogol's DEAD SOULS (a new translation by
Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky, and Susanne Fusso's revision of
Guerney's translation), the reviewer mentions that "Bernard Guilbert
Guerney...created the first translation sufficiently precise to meet the
approval of the exacting Vladimir Nabokov."
