Greetings fellow Nabokovians:

I hope many of you all got to hear Alex Van Oss's Nabokov piece on NPR which
aired on 23 April. I received an e-mail today from Michele Kelemen, our
Moscow correspondent. She expressed to me her deep regret that she wasn't
able to cover the Nabokov activities in Russia as was our plan and hope
since the Kosovo War has absorbed all our European resources. However,
Michelle is determined not to miss the 200th anniversary festivities to
honour Russia's greatest poet.

I'm working closely with Michele to gather material for her Pushkin
coverage.

As always, scholars rely on their fellow scholars for suggestions and I ask
for any suggestions from you all about covering Pushkin. Any interesting
angle, any interesting event planned in Russia that you know of will be most
welcome. Of course, if you know of some good Pushkinists in Russia or in the
States who speak well, let me know.

I'm relishing work on this project.

One last question. Is Russia celebrating the great poet's birthday on 26th
May or 6 June?
