EDNOTE.
Every once in a while your beleaguered and generally befuddled editor accidently sends a private message to the list. For those of you who inquired, I can tell you a had a very pleasant day botanizing and butterflying on a nearby mountain. One damp spot yielded eight species of butterflies--two of which were new to me.
The unexpected thrill was coming within the aura of Michael Jackson (only a name in the newspaper to me) who has a lavish ranch-playpen called Neverland on the road down the mountain. Coming over a rise I saw hundreds of cars parked along the country road. Fans were waiting for their idol to come home from his indictment proceedings. Ah---Santa Barbara.
I am considered dropping the Nabokov theme and turning the list into my personal blog.
