Dear All,

Yes, I was at the 1983 Cornell conference too. Borges seemed to evade the
fact, in question time, that he hadn't read Nabokov, rather than to admit it
outright. I couldn't help thinking as I watched and squirmed that in a
similar situation VN would never even have considered accepting an
invitation and travel expenses.
