From Jeff Edmunds <jhe2@psulias.psu.edu>:

Most academic libraries in the United States follow the rules established
by the Library of Congress. According to LC practice, an author who writes
in two languages has two different so-called "author numbers," one for each
language. Thus, Nabokov's Russian works, translations thereof, and critical
works about them are classed in PG3476.N3 (or thereabouts), his English
works, translations thereof, and critical works about them in PS3527.A15
(or thereabouts). (I would be happy to provide more details to Hui-Chen
Hsieh off-list, if necessary.)
