Dear Don (it might be fun to post this exchange),

The point of my quiz-like question to you is that the original title of Eco's short takeoff was "Nonita", a play on the Italian word "nonna" , or "grandma". The Englishing of the title into "Granita", with the intended echo of "Granny" but, in Italian especially, an interference of "granite" and a dash of "grenadine", is not felicitous. The Eco/Fulmerford link, by the way, is canceled and no longer a valid echo.

Best, DN

Dmitri,

Here is the reference to the English version. The book, a collection of essays, probably has a different title in the Italian original. Best, Don
