This calendar includes information about exhibitions of work by Saul
Steinberg and by William Steig. Also listed are the dates for appearances by
Elif Batuman, Dana Goodyear, Junot Díaz, Seymour M. Hersh, and Oliver Sacks,
as well as information about the exhibit "The Writer's Brush," which
includes the art work of several *New Yorker* writers and contributors (A.
R. Ammons watercolor, above).

"The Writer's Brush" is an exhibition based on Donald Friedman's book "The
Writer's Brush: Paintings, Drawings, and Sculpture by Writers" (Mid-List),
which comes out this month. The exhibit, curated by Friedman, includes more
than a hundred and twenty unique works by eighty of the world's most
celebrated writers who were also artists, including *New Yorker* writers and
contributors such as James Thurber, Vladimir Nabokov, Jonathan Lethem, Annie
Proulx, Charles Simic, Mark Strand, and Derek Walcott.
