Demon's aunt Kitty "married the Banker Bolenski after divorcing that dreadful old wencher Lyovka Tolstoy, the writer." (Ada, 1.38)

In Tolstoy's Anna Karenin Kitty Shcherbatski marries Konstantin Lyovin. Anna's maiden name is Oblonski (Stiva Oblonski is her brother). Tolstoy's daughter Maria L'vovna (1871-1906) married N. L. Obolenski.

In his "Sketches of the Past" (chapter "Mail Box") S. L. Tolstoy mentions "the medical certificate" (skorbnyi list) of his mother Sofia Andreevna:

Больная страдает манией блохино-банковской... Хорошо тоже действуют в этом случае в умеренном приёме воды Кузькиной матери.
(The patient suffers the Blokhin-Bank mania... A moderate dose of the waters of Kuzma's mother can be also helpful in her case.)

Blokhin was a quiet lunatic who sometimes visited Yasnaya Polyana.

According to Sergey L'vovich Tolstoy, in 1884 his father wanted to leave his wife:

7 июня 1884 года, накануне рождения дочери Саши, отец после тяжелого разговора с матерью намеревался осуществить свое намерение и уйти из дома. (1910. About Last Months and Days in the Life of L. N. Tolstoy)

Tolstoy's sister Maria speaks of Sofia Andreevna's terre-à-terre:

Чем больше Лев душой и умом возносился к небу, тем более она погружалась в милое ей terre-à-terre. (from M. N. Tolstaya's letter of January 16, 1911, to Charles Salomon)
