Congratulations, René!  I look forward (as I am sure many other Nabokovians will do as well) to reading your new book.

The interesting exchange around line 992 of Shade’s poem provides me with an opportunity to announce the publication of a new study about the novel: The Darker Shades of Pale Fire, An Investigation into a Literary Mystery (Paris: Michel Houdiard Editeur).

This book is an annotated history of the novel’s reception half a century after its publication, and offers a new answer to the riddle of Pale Fire’s narrative structure.

I hope Nabokov aficionados will read it with pleasure.
