This Chuck Klosterman review of a new documentary about Kubrick’s The Shining should resonate with Nabokovians.

Some of the essays on Pale Fire in the latest Nabokov Online Journal—particularly the one on genealogy—approach this kind of “Immersion Criticism,” and might therefore be easily dismissed.  But I think Klosterman says some helpful things about how we might enjoy this kind of thing and how such criticism may be seen as a compliment to the author/filmmaker, rather than an abuse.
