CK: The proper English translation of sobaka is bitch.
Russian word for "bitch" is suka (cf. sukin syn, "son of a bitch;" kobel' is "husband of a bitch"). Although feminine, sobaka is not necessarily "female dog" (pyos is always "male dog").
Igor Stravinsky (the author of Firebird, etc.) was a friend of Nicolas Nabokov (the composer, author of charming memoirs Bagazh, VN's cousin).
Sukin syn! How could I forget! Your answer to the quiz question is only very partially correct - no prize for you!

The quiz is so simple as to seem to involve some kind of trick.
Igor Stravinsky is the composer of Le Sacre du Printemps, Apollon Musagète, The Firebird etc.
Why ??le sacre?? This is an idiomatic matter: in French one invariably speaks of ??le scare des rois/ le sacre de l??empereur/ le sacre d??un évêque? etc. See V. Hugo, Colette, among others.

Thanks for the correct (so far as I know) answer to the French question (however - should it not then be in English the Rites of Spring?)
Along with Alexey you do not get the prize ...

Dear A. Bouzaa,

I forgot to ask - Hugo? Colette? I thought I knew both their works reasonably well, but I'm not finding anything in the old memory vaults ...
