Although the book "O Lugar do Morto" by J.E.Agualusa has just been presented to the press, already in June 2008 the chapter about Nabokov and President Obama had been critically received by Alexandre Soares da Silva, under the title "Nabokov's phantom is peculiarly dumb." O fantasma de Nabokov é singularmente bobo* One of the most damning acusations is that it was written in a totally un-Nabokovian style: "Agualusa não podia se esforçar um pouco para fazer uma paródia?" ie: "Couldn't Agualusa have attempted, at least, to write a parody?" - in lieu of stuffing the book with sentimental generalizations, aleatory references to butterflies, the Palace Hotel in Montreux and scrabble games...

* I tried google-searching for Agualusa under the apprehension that I'd already sent news of Agualusa to the Nab-L  before, but couldn't confirm it.
