JM: An accidental find revealed
why I linked Alexey's "nado passati","tempi passati"to... "time flees"
(particularly in relation to Horace's Ode 2:14).
In Nabokov's "Speak,Memory"
(Vintage,1989,pg.295) Ch.15 we read: "They are passing,
posthaste, posthaste, the gliding years - to use a soul-rending Horatian
inflection. The years are passing, my dear, and presently nobody will know what
you and I know."
