From Jim Twiggs to Matt Roth and Tiffany DeRewal

Congratulations on a truly fine and provocative paper. It will, I'm sure, be read and discussed for a good long time. I'm especially impressed by the excellent use you've made of some fascinating sources. In my eyes, the greatest strength of your (and Carolyn's) basic approach is that, by eliminating the question of conscious motivation, you have undercut the kinds of devastating criticisms brought by David Lodge in his 1995 Cycnos paper. By so doing, you have made it possible for a skeptic like me to take a single-narrator view seriously for the very first time. Congratulations again, and best wishes always.
