Believe it or not, but I noticed this only now:
 
sur = Rus (as Jansy informed us, sur* is Spanish for "South," cf. Borges' story El Sur; rus is Latin for "country" as opposed to city; Rus is the old name of Russia, òÕÓØ, that occurs several times in ADA: 2.1, 2.2, 5.5; cf. Pushkin's O Rus pun; the epigraph to the Second Canto of EO).
