Tina Brown, 53, has edited Vanity Fair, the New Yorker and Talk. She is the author of The Diana Chronicles, which is out on June 21. She lives in New York with her husband, the journalist and writer Sir Harold Evans, and their two children, George and Isobel.

Favourite writers Charles Dickens (A Tale of Two Cities in particular), George Eliot, Jane Austen and Vladimir Nabokov. At the moment I am into anything about the Middle East and loved The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright and The Prince of the Marshes by Rory Stewart.
