Charles, I certainly did not mean to imply that you wrote or thought in a confused manner. I wanted a word like ‘startlement’, but it doesn’t exist: I felt, perhaps wrongly, that you were startled when a new interpretation hove into view. Startlement is good, as a start.

 

Stan – Our first joint bank account was opened at Penny Lane. But I’ve been a southerner for a long time now – was never a real scouser. Can remember a few phrases like ‘Moin’ yer cah’, without the interrogative, naturally.
