To the List,

It occurred to me last night that "the other world" that Vera Nabokov talked about doesn't have to be the world beyond death - -  it could refer to the world of the mind and imagination, couldn't it? Another reason to read Marina Warner's book Fantastic Metamorphoses, Other Worlds. MW does by the way mention Nabokov a few times - - a story with Christmas in the title and probably a few references to Lolita.

p.s. If I may be allowed a little crow this is the first (and to be honest, only) book in which my name appears in a footnote.
