VN's dictionary was Webster's 2nd, not the 3rd--which was a significant abridgement of the 2nd.

Yes, I did manage to confuse Webster's 3rd with W;s 2nd. I bought a copy of the 2nd edition a few years ago and I can't imagine trying to figure out Nabokov without it.

And for the rest - - what fabulous "dollups"!
