Zimmer and DN tapes

Dear Friends,

I think I should clarify the situation with regard to VN Archive
materials. The Vladimir Nabokov Archive some years ago became the
property of the Berg Collection of the New York Public Library.
Materials that have so far been delivered to the Berg incude, mainly,
manuscripts, letters, diaries, and photographs. Items still to be
delivered under the agreement between DN and the NYPL include audio and
video recordings that concern VN and DN, additional photographs,
clippings, and various miscellaneous materials. In principle, all
written materials delivered to the Berg are preserved on CD or
photocopied in full or in part, and the copies are, for the present,
held in Montreux. It is my intention to copy onto DVD all important
audio and video material before delivery to the Berg, time and other
circumstances permitting. Certain archive materials (manuscripts, etc.)
were placed in the 1950s at the Library of Congress, where they are
available for consultation by special permission. A certain number of
books by VN, some with dedications a/o annotations, are currently housed
in Montreux and in New York. I plan to be in touch with Dieter to see
what duplication exists between his tape collection and mine.

Greetings,

DN
