Rodney,
I assumed we could search for a transcription of the Pivot interview in Brian Boyd's "The American Years", but I made a mistake when I read A. Bouazza's posting.
He wrote: "This is the famous APOSTROPHES by Bernard Pivot. For those who don't speak French, please see Boyd's VN: The American Years."
I found
a short nice entry on Pivot's "Apostrophes" - but not the text  itself - on pages 651/52 ( Princeton University Press).  There are several interviews transcribed in VN's "Strong Opinions", but not the one with Pivot. So, I think they are only available, following Wim Sanders,if we watch the Gallimard/Ina,2004 DVD. Does anyone know if they were ever published either in French or in English?
