The Biologist's Mistress: Rethinking Self-Organization in Art, Literature and Nature  by Victoria N. Alexander
www.biologistsmistress.com

Nabokov's relationship to evolution and teleology (the study of purposes in nature) is complex, confusing and the subject of much debate.  My new book explores the history and practice of teleology in science and the arts with references to Nabokov in chapters 6 and 7.  Previously, I've written about how Nabokov's teleology might be understood today in terms of the phenomena of self-organization (“Monstrous Fate: The Problem of Authorship and Evolution by Natural Selection,” “Nabokov,Teleology, and Insect Mimicry”). In this new book, I try to make the theory more accessible to general audiences.
