Russian Magazine to Publish Nabokov’s Letters to his Wife

The Snob will for the first time ever publish a selection of Vladimir Nabokov’s letters to his wife Vera.

The material has already been posted on the web site, but the access is guarded; it will appear in full in the November issue of the magazine that will come out on 20 November.

The letters – altogether there are about three hundred of them – will be published in the book Letters to Vera to be issued at the Knopf Publishing House in 2011.

The Snob publishes the letters with the permission of the writer’s son Dmitry Nabokov.

"It is in all senses the first and so far the only one opportunity to read Nabokov’s selected letters in Russian", - literary editor of the Snob pointed out. In connection with the publication of letters the writer’s son Dmitry said: "I am happy that there is a chance to make these letters accessible to readers, without any distortions and censorship".

The book will include letters written by Nabokov to Vera Slonim during the period from 1923 to 1975. Vera Slonim married Vladimir Nabokov in 1925.
