After recently watching "Atonement", based on a novel written by Ian McEwan, while marvelling at Vanessa Redgrave's rendering of "unreliable narration", with her malicious twinkle and complaisant smile while she mused on the power of fiction to create eternal worlds, it suddenly occurred to me that there are no female narrators in Nabokov.
I hope my memory is now betraying me when I cannot recollect any words or stories as expressed by a woman in VN's works. Could any participant in this list come to my rescue? I'd love to find Redgrave, if not as HH or Kinbote, at least as one of VN's perverse unreliable narrators trying to seduce the reader into their point of views. In "Atonement", Redgrave was absolutely wonderful as old Biony.
