I have been reading the new book by Deborah Blum on William James and the American (and British) Society for Psychical Research. Several references are made to the debunking activities of Michael Faraday, and his dismissive attitude toward "p.r.". I had not been aware of this aspect of his life.
By the way I find the book interesting, but disappointing. Dr Blum does not seem to have done much research if any into the nature of Dunglass Home (referred to scathingly by VN in SM) and his interesting talents.
